After the Bell was photographed in an abandoned schoolyard in Ardmore, Oklahoma. It’s always difficult to see a school sitting empty — broken windows, unused spaces, and all that sense of hope and growth left behind. But what really held my attention here was the odd collection of objects gathered in the yard: a vintage sewing machine, a toy Godzilla, and a small bright red car sitting by itself on the concrete. I don’t know why any of it was there. Maybe that is what makes the scene stay with me. Each object feels like it once had a purpose, or belonged to someone, and now it has simply been left behind.
